How to get a car at the airport: step-by-step process

We'll tell you exactly how you get the vehicle at the airport — from booking to leaving the parking lot.

Booking and confirmation

You book a car on the Rent-Trip website or by phone, provide your flight number — we track delays and prepare the car for your arrival. An hour before landing, our dispatcher contacts you, confirms the time, and clarifies where it's more convenient to meet — at the exit from domestic arrivals or from the international terminal. If your flight is delayed by 3+ hours, we reschedule the meeting time at no extra charge — just let us know in the WhatsApp chat.

Meeting at the terminal exit

Our employee meets you at the exit of the arrival area (domestic and international flights) with an «Rent-Trip» sign — no need to look for a counter inside the airport building. We deliberately do not rent an office in the terminal to avoid including those costs in the rental price. For night flights (after 11:00 PM), we arrange the meeting point in advance — usually at parking P1, the car is already warmed up and waiting.

Car inspection and contract signing

Upon handover, we inspect the vehicle together, note any chips/scratches in the report, and sign the contract — the whole process takes 10-15 minutes.

The rental price includes MTPL (mandatory civil liability insurance) up to 1,000,000 ₸. This covers damage to third parties, but not your car. If you cause an accident, you pay for repairs or it's deducted from the deposit. For complete peace of mind, you can take out CASCO (3,000 ₸/day) — then the deductible (non-reimbursable portion of damage) drops to 0 ₸.

Deposit: how much and how it's returned

The deposit is a guarantee amount blocked on a Kaspi or Halyk card. For comfort class — 50,000 ₸, for premium — 200,000 ₸. The funds are unblocked within 1-2 hours after return if there is no damage. In our practice, the deposit is withheld in two cases: if the car is returned with a dirty interior (5,000 ₸ fine for cleaning) or with body damage.

What to do in case of an accident

If you have an accident, call our 24/7 support. We'll advise on how to file a European accident report (up to 100,000 ₸ damage), call an emergency commissioner or tow truck. We strongly advise against negotiating on the spot without documents — without a police certificate, insurance won't cover the damage, and the deposit will be fully deducted.

We accept Kaspi Gold, Halyk Bank, Visa/Mastercard, and cash in tenge. Transfer to Kaspi is the fastest option: money arrives instantly, deposit is blocked automatically. For Halyk — transfer by IBAN, credited within 15-30 minutes. Cash is accepted in tenge at the National Bank rate on the day of payment — but the deposit is still blocked on the card.

Deposit return

The deposit is unblocked within 1-2 hours after inspection. If you return the car at the airport at night, we deduct the deposit the next day by 10:00 — this is due to the accounting department's schedule. In practice, money arrives on Kaspi within an hour, on Halyk — up to 3 hours. Delays occur if the car is returned with damage — then we contact you and agree on the repair amount.

What happens if you exceed the rental period

If you're 1-2 hours late, there's no fine — you only pay for the extra day. If 6+ hours late, the full cost of the next day is charged. In our practice, returns are most often delayed due to traffic jams on the Kulzhinsky tract — notify us an hour in advance, and we'll reschedule without a fine.

For travel abroad, you need a vehicle registration certificate and a power of attorney — we issue them in 5 minutes. The deposit for travel abroad is 200,000 ₸ (refundable). In practice, most often people take Nissan Sentra or Geely Emgrand — they cross the border without problems and have low fuel consumption.

Where you can get in a day from Almaty

Charyn Canyon — 3 hours one way (200 km), better to go in a Nissan Elgrand or Lexus ES. Kolsai Lake — 4 hours (300 km), the last 30 km are dirt road — high ground clearance needed. BAO (Big Almaty Lake) — 1.5 hours, ascent to 2500 m — in winter, tire chains are mandatory, we provide them free of charge.

What you need to know about Sergek cameras

In the city and on highways, Sergek cameras are installed — they record speeding, running red lights, and unbuckled seat belts.
