Rental deposit: how much and when it's refunded

When renting from Rent-Trip, the deposit ranges from 50,000 to 200,000 ₸ depending on the model and is fully refunded upon returning the car. For Geely Coolray and Subaru Forester, the deposit is 50,000 ₸; for Land Cruiser 200 and G-Class, it's 200,000 ₸. Mid-range models (Tiguan, CR-V, Outlander, CX-9) have a deposit of 100,000 ₸. The deposit is blocked on a Kaspi or Halyk card — the money is not debited but reserved, and it is unblocked on the day of return. If you return the car before 12:00 PM, it is unblocked the same day; after 12:00 PM, it is unblocked the next morning.

Payment methods and additional services

• Kaspi Pay and Halyk Bank: payment by cards of any RK bank via Kaspi Terminal or Halyk POS — no commission.
• Cash in tenge: we accept at the office upon receiving the car, exact amount required with no change.
• Non-cash payment for legal entities: we issue an invoice with VAT, contract and act — for companies and individual entrepreneurs.
• Additional services: child seat (1,500 ₸/day), GPS navigator (1,000 ₸/day), car delivery to the airport (3,000 ₸).

For rentals of 7 days or more — 10% discount; for rentals of 30 days or more — individual rate.

For city and light off-road: Geely Coolray, Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V

For city driving and light trips to Medeu, the Geely Coolray (17,000 ₸/day), Subaru Forester (18,000 ₸/day) and Honda CR-V (22,000 ₸/day) are optimal — compact, economical, with all-wheel drive. The Coolray with a 1.5L turbo engine accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and easily maneuvers in traffic jams on Al-Farabi Avenue. The CR-V with 208 mm ground clearance easily enters the parking lot at Medeu even in snowfall. The Subaru Forester with a boxer engine and low center of gravity holds the road more confidently on the serpentine roads to Shymbulak than many crossovers.

For serious off-road and long routes: Toyota Land Cruiser 200, Mitsubishi Outlander

For Charyn Canyon, Kolsai and trips to Kyrgyzstan, choose the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (33,000 ₸/day) or Mitsubishi Outlander (23,000 ₸/day) — body-on-frame construction and all-wheel drive with low-range gearing. The Outlander with 215 mm ground clearance handles the gravel road to Kolsai without risk of scraping the underbody, while the Land Cruiser 200 with rear differential lock can pull the car out of sand at the bottom of Charyn. The Land Cruiser 200 with a diesel engine covers up to 800 km on one tank — enough for the Almaty — Kolsai — Charyn route and back without refueling.

Premium class for status and comfort: Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Mazda CX-9

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class (78,000 ₸/day) and Mazda CX-9 (28,000 ₸/day) are the choice for business trips, meetings and status outings out of town. The CX-9 with genuine leather interior and heated seats for all is comfortable for four passengers on a trip to BAO. The G-Class with triple differential locks is the only car in our fleet that is equally confident on Rublyovka and on the mountain trail to BAO.

Documents and driver requirements

To rent an SUV, you need a minimum set of documents. We explain what exactly and what restrictions apply.

What documents are needed for car rental in Kazakhstan

• RK identity card or foreign passport: the main document for the rental agreement — without it we cannot process the rental.
• Driver's license category B: RK license or international license — for foreign citizens, a license from the country of residence with a notarized translation is acceptable.
• IIN for foreigners: if you are not a citizen of RK, you need an IIN — it can be obtained at a CEC in 15 minutes with a foreign passport.

If you have your passport on hand, the contract is processed in 10 minutes. If your passport is with the migration service, you can provide an identity card.

Can I rent without a license?

No, renting an SUV without a driver's license is impossible — this is a requirement of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the insurance company. Even if you are an experienced driver but don't have a physical license (lost, replacement), the contract will not be signed. The exception is if you rent a car with a driver (chauffeur service), but in our fleet this option is only available for the G-Class by pre-order.

Driver age and experience: restrictions

The minimum driver age at Rent-Trip is 21 years, with at least 2 years of experience. For premium models (G-Class, Land Cruiser 200) — from 25 years and at least 3 years of experience. Drivers aged 21-24 with at least 2 years of experience can rent a Coolray, Forester or Tiguan — but with a deposit of 100,000 ₸ instead of the standard 50,000 ₸. If experience is less than 2 years but age is over 25 — we consider individually with a 30% increase in deposit.

Where to go with an SUV: routes and restrictions

Almaty is the starting point for dozens of routes where a sedan won't go. We share proven destinations and departure rules.

Top 5 SUV routes

• Medeu — Shymbulak (15 km from the city): asphalt to Medeu, then dirt road to Shymbulak — any car from the fleet can handle it, but Forester and Outlander are more comfortable on the serpentine.
• Big Almaty Lake (BAO, 28 km): gravel road with sharp turns — ground clearance of at least 200 mm required, CR-V, Outlander, Land Cruiser 200 are suitable.
• Charyn Canyon (200 km east): 100 km of highway, 100 km of dirt road — only Land Cruiser 200 or Outlander with all-wheel drive and low range.
• Kolsai Lakes (300 km east): asphalt to Saty, then 15 km of gravel — Land Cruiser 200 or G-Class with sufficient range.
• Trip to Kyrgyzstan (Korday border, 60 km): requires vehicle registration certificate and exit permit — Rent-Trip processes it in 1 day, available for Land Cruiser 200 and Outlander.

Restrictions on travel outside Kazakhstan

Travel to Kyrgyzstan in an Rent-Trip SUV is only possible with Land Cruiser 200 and Mitsubishi Outlander — these models have the owner's permission. You need to notify 2 days in advance, arrange a power of attorney for exit (free). Travel to Uzbekistan and Russia in our cars is prohibited — insurance does not cover these territories.

Insurance and what to do in case of an accident

Any SUV is issued with a full package — but it's important to understand what insurance covers and what it doesn't.

What Rent-Trip insurance includes

• Compulsory third-party liability insurance (OSAO): covers damage to third parties up to 600,000 ₸ — included in the rental price.
• Comprehensive insurance (CASCO) with deductible: in case of an accident caused by you, you pay a deductible of 10% of the repair cost, but not more than 200,000 ₸. For G-Class — deductible 15%.
• Theft insurance: if the car is stolen while the alarm was triggered — you pay nothing. If the alarm was turned off — a 50% deductible.

What to do in case of an accident: step by step

• Step 1: stop, turn on hazard lights, set up a warning triangle. Do not move the car until the police arrive.
• Step 2: call Rent-Trip at the number from your contract — we will send a coordinator to the scene within 30 minutes within the city.
• Step 3: call the police at 102. If there are injuries, call an ambulance at 103.
• Step 4: take photos of the accident scene, damage, license plates of those involved, and the position of the cars.
• Step 5: wait for the police and coordinator — do not sign a European accident report without our approval.

If the accident occurs outside the city (Charyn, Kolsai) — the coordinator travels to the city limits, then assistance is by phone and a tow truck at your expense (from 15,000 ₸ to the accident site).

How to rent an SUV: step-by-step guide

The rental process takes 10-15 minutes if everything is ready. We break it down step by step — from the call to departure.

Rental process

• Step 1 — choose a model: call or write on WhatsApp — the manager will confirm which model is available for your dates. In season (May-September), Land Cruiser 200 and G-Class are booked 3-5 days in advance.
• Step 2 — booking: no prepayment — just provide your name, dates, and model. We hold the reservation for 24 hours.
• Step 3 — document preparation: passport and driver's license — originals. If you are renting a car for another driver, their presence is required at the time of signing.
• Step 4 — vehicle inspection: together with the manager, check the body, interior, tires, oil and fluid levels. Record scratches and chips in the acceptance certificate.
• Step 5 — signing the contract: rental agreement in Russian or Kazakh, acceptance certificate, copy of insurance.
• Step 6 — payment and deposit: pay the full rental cost + deposit by card or cash. The deposit is blocked on Kaspi/Halyk or accepted in cash and returned upon return.
• Step 7 — departure: you receive the keys, car documents, and technical passport — and off you go.

Delivery and return of the car

Delivery to the airport — 3 000 ₸, within the city — 2 000 ₸. Car return — before 12:00 on the last rental day; if later, an extra half-day is charged. You can return at the airport (surcharge 3 000 ₸) — leave the keys at the information desk, and we pick them up.
